Touch Bar Doesn't Work

I'm using Better Touch Tool through Setapp. The touch bar worked great at first (at least for 6 months), but it hasn't been working for the past 3-6 months. I once was able to get it going again by enabling and disabling that option. I change the settings recommended under the keyboard mac settings but no luck. I seem to have the same issues as described here, but the solution here didn't work for me https://community.folivora.ai/t/touchbar-items-not-visible/2745

Are there any other possible solutions?

If you are running macOS Catalina make sure System Preferences => Keyboard => Touch Bar Shows is set to "App Controls"

I had that setting as described. I have a touch bar enabled in BTT as well.
