GoldenChaos-BTT Support and Feedback Thread

Ahhhh. Make sure the width isn't 0, I've had it mysteriously reset on me once before :stuck_out_tongue: default width is 580px.

@GoldenChaos Ah yes! that was it :+1:

Hi! I love your work. It's an amazing improvement over Apple's crap. A couple of things:

  • when holding option, the lock icon and airplay icon interfere with one another
  • I managed to fix this, but the app switcher (both when holding command and a regular press on the touchbar) has the same problem as the emoji button.
Other than these minor bugs, I haven't run into any other significant problems!

 sorry had to change some things in the weather widget in 2.552/2553 alpha, that's what the alphas a for

I'll make all the available weather data available via such variables soon.

yes, the blueutil is installed but it seems not working

  • Could you share a screenshot (cmd+shift+6)? In later builds I've changed the text of the Lock Screen button to only have the text "Lock" so it doesn't overlap with the AirPlay button.

  • I'm confused by this one because you didn't say what was wrong with the emoji button? :stuck_out_tongue:

Can you add apparent(feels) Temp to the list of key options. As a weather app developer it is one of the most common requests. Ive seen temps where i live that the "feels temp" is 15 degrees diff from "temp"

@Andreas_Hegenberg Extracted Apple's official weather icons for the widget and tried them out in 2.553. They actually saved! However, they seem to push the text afterward up a few pixels :stuck_out_tongue: see screenshot.

EDIT: I added all of the icons to all instances of the weather widget. There is some weirdly inconsistent icon sizing going on depending on the widget's output configuration... screenshot:

In this case I have separate weather widgets to display the day name for layout flexibility in showing button shapes (except for the today widget, where they are combined). But when I gave them the updated icons, they display them even though they aren't part of the output. In addition, there are at least three icon sizes I'm seeing here, all for the same icon. Sizing should be consistent, would be best if I could define a single size like in other widgets.

Here I've removed the extra icons so you can at least see what it's supposed to look like (minus the sizing and line height issues):

EDIT2: Could the weather widget also have the option for corner radii on only one side?

Also, for anyone who wants the set of ten weather icons I extracted:

Clear%20Night%20Icon%20Group%403x Sleet%20Icon%20Group%403x Mostly%20Cloudy%20Icon%20Group%403x Mostly%20Sunny%20Icon%20Group%403x Partly%20Cloudy%20Night%20Icon%20Group%403x Partly%20Cloudy%20Icon%20Group%403x Blizzard%20Icon%20Group%403x Fog%20Icon%20Group%403x Breezy%20Icon%20Group%403x Rain%20Icon%20Group%403x

Currently if you assign an icon but don't include it in the custom title format, it will be set on the default image view of the button, otherwise it will be integrated into the text. Unfortunately it's complicated to make these the same size because text is handled very differently and depends on the font-size, but I will try to get it to work a little better before the final release.
In order to completely disable custom icons, don't assign any.

//edit: it seems that if {icon} is the first part of the output format, it will somehow be smaller - will check what's causing that.

  • I'm having trouble screenshotting the touchbar because it's interpreting my option key input as part of the cmd+shift+6 input.
  • Sorry, should have been clearer. The app switcher and the emoji widgets share the 0 width problem outlined in previous posts before mine.
  • One more thing I've noticed: a couple of weird white columns appear on the right side of the touchbar near the brightness controls whenever I press cmd. When I press option, the same columns appear near the conflicting lock and airplay buttons.
If it's not already clear, I'm on the latest experimental version. Thanks for all your help!

Trick to getting the screenshots is release the option key JUST before pressing cmd+shift+6. It takes like a half a second for the option menu to go away so you'll be able to get a screenshot. Pain in butt, but it works!

I definitely need to see screenshots of this to figure out what's going on, I've never heard of this issue before, especially the white column thing.

Got it.

I doubt I will be able to capture the white columns in a screenshot but I will shoot a video and put it up here to show you.

Aha! There we go. You're displaying the esc key :slightly_smiling_face: you should hide it. A number of other settings also don't seem to be correct, as icons are getting squished. Make sure your BTT Touch Bar preferences match the image in the first post:

Thank you! That fixed most of the white columns, but one still remains in the app switcher.
Here's a link to a short video I shot: https://imgur.com/a/Rg8tylb

That's DEFINITELY a bug  @Andreas_Hegenberg

Thanks as usual for the continual support of this preset. It's brilliant! Just updated to the latest version and I noticed that the high and low arrows on the long-press weather widget look awkward and don't seem to match what you have on your system. Any ideas on how this might be fixed? Screenshot attached!

Check your general Touch Bar settings :slightly_smiling_face: make sure that they match what I've shown above and in the first post! In this case the setting is "Keep aspect ratio when resizing Touch Bar icons", but it would probably be good to check your other settings as well.

Hmm, the aspect ratio setting doesn't appear to be present in BTT for me (see screenshot). I'm on v2.553 (884) so I'm not sure why I don't seem to have it. Thanks for the quick response though!

Gah it moved :joy: it's there, right next to "animate group open & close" lmao

If you could see my face rn...sigh but dope I see it now, thanks lol
