GoldenChaos-BTT Support and Feedback Thread

maybe a network / firewall issue?
You can also try the new native weather widget in the latest BetterTouchTool alpha, however it's still a work in progress. I want to make it so it shows a forecast for the week when tapping on it.

New update won't download for me. Would love to try this weather widget out! Also, can you make the week forecast able to be set on long press instead of on tap? I still want to be able to configure mine to open the carrot menubar item.

@GoldenChaos @Andreas_Hegenberg Same for me

Ah sorry, download is now working. Maybe I'll just make a separate widget for the week forecast, then everybody can decide how to show it.

In the current alpha the widget is just the same as @GoldenChaos, only in native code and without the need for external dependencies. With the next update I'll allow custom icons and add some more options.

@Andreas_Hegenberg Just a minor thing, it says August 0 in the release notes.

Sadly, the enabling the native weather widget is causing BTT to freeze/crash on Mojave DP6 :disappointed:

Also, for the eventual custom weather icons, is it possible to support animated icons/gifs? Subtly animated weather icons like Dark Sky's are great and I've wanted to implement them since the very first version instead of using emoji.

Weird, seems to work fine here :-/ Will do some more testing later today.
Animations are planned for all icons and should be available in 1-2 weeks.

Here's what I see in the console:

u mean Forecast Bar right :wink:

I think I may have figured out what caused the freeze - 2.550 alpha is online :slight_smile:

// and I have added a forecast function to the widget - the nice thing is even if you create 5 widgets for the same locations but with different days, it will only do one http request.

It works! Some suggestions:

  • Option to round temperature to nearest degree
  • Option to hide units
  • "Expanded" today information with hi/low temp, possibly other info?

There also seems to be some extra space at the beginning of the Today's Weather version of the widget, since it's not showing a day name. I also found a bug where the widget blinks any time you open a button group.

I'll have a new experimental version out today with 7-day forecast long press functionality :slightly_smiling_face: I just need to finish adjusting some spacing and then it's ready:

Good evening

You allow Celsius and Fahrenheit in the native weather widget, would it be possible to use "system default" as well as defined in System settings, Language and region?
I'd love to see something similar for the time/date widget as it would make it much easier to distribute presets that work out of the box for most people without the need for them to dig into them and change settings alle the time there is an update.

Thanks

@Katertier That's now possible in v2.551 alpha

hey, thank you first but toggle bluetooth on/ off by pressing this button is not working! It just showing that bluetooth is on or off

Hey guys! Someone on Twitter asked about donating. I typically don't ask for donations for side projects like these, but I've been spending a ton of time on this and having a really great time, so I decided what the heck I'll set up a donation link and see where it goes.

If you feel like supporting my insomnia, here's a PayPal link where you can donate: https://paypal.me/GoldenChaos

I've also added a link in the first post. Thanks for just enjoying the preset, everyone :slightly_smiling_face:

Did you install the extra utility?

Is there an option round to int for weather? or an option for apparent temp?

edit: this has come along way @GoldenChaos, its awesome

@GoldenChaos Is the emoji function working already? It's showing nothing on mine, except for the standard brightness, volume, day, weather etc. On the latest version both BTT and GC-BTT.

Nothing about it has changed lately, works fine for me over here. Maybe something happened to the button group? Check to make sure it's enabled in the BTT preferences.

@GoldenChaos It's the emoji widget that's not working for me even though it's enabled.
