Hi,
I just noticed that my floating menu is behaving really weird. I have submenus there, but when I open them, only one of them opens, and the hover effect is also missing in that submenu. I think this is a bug that should be fixed.
Here is a video of the behavior:
I think my issue is also related. On version: 5.246 (2025030302), for me the submenus are not opening. Actually after trying to open a submenu the whole floating menu disappears and it is never shown again until I restart BTT (this only happens I choose an item with a submenu). I'm opening the floating menu with a key sequence if this matters.
The floating menu actually is there since if I trigger the menu the mouse cursor is changing to an mouse pointer/arrow and if I move it to the location where supposedly the submenu items are and select an action from it (e.g. make text bold) the action is completed OR if I manage to click the "back button item" the whole menu shows. Check the attached video:
I think I accidentally applied the new caching mechanism to submenus in the recent alphas. Could you check whether it works again in 5.247 ? (uploading)
Still the same on my end with 5.247
Yeah, it is the same for me too.
Ah I think I missed one spot, can you try again with 5.248? (uploading)
Ok, now it works for me again.
Thanks
Still the same for me.
Could you maybe share your menu with me? (I already thought your issue might be unrelated because the caching should not lead to something like this).
Just FYI, I need to roll back to V5.21 for a stable floating menu combos (identical-named common menu + specific menus for diff apps). If seems all versions after V5.214 have similar (but not identical) issues with floating menu.
Perhaps caching mechanism is also causing this:
For most of the more recent versions, after triggering hide and unhide floating menu, create either (1) duplication of identical app-specific menu, or (2) if I trigger hide the menu of one app and move to another app and trrigger unhide menu, both the floating menu of the previous app and active app are shown.
Restarting BTT will reset the initial settings but same problems will occur again.
Disclaimer: I am very comfortable to continue using V5.21 for now.
MacOS: 15.3.1 (24D70)
MBP M3 Max 36GB
mhh I can't seem to reproduce this on 5.248, do you maybe also have a menu you could share with me to reproduce the issue?
Actually the menu is from "text-selection" preset just a slightly modified
text-selection-floating-menu-issue.bttpreset (719.7 KB)
I sent you an email about an hour ago. There’s no urgency for me, and thank you!
@xidiot, can you try checking and then unchecking this box again? Somehow it got into a weird state:
I'll check what caused this.
@ngan, thanks I'll have a look!
@ngan I don't think I received the email, did it send correctly? Maybe too large attachment?
I sent the presets to the address of noreply@community.folivora.ai - probably wrong.
I have resend the presets in a zip file and a .mov file that shows what happened to your PM.
Thanks!
This worked. Thanks.
there were a few more caching related issues, I hope 5.253 resolves them.
While some basic caching is still automatically applied, the full menu caching (which also increases memory usage) is now optional. It should only be needed for very large menus:
Hi @Andreas_Hegenberg , I'm not sure since which version (3-4 version ago), but my floating menus are not updated regularly. I have scripts which are running every 10secs which should fetch info about the currently playing media, the scrips are running fine (I have not touched them). If I restart BTT floating menus are showing the correct info for short period of time, but then they stop updating for no obvious reason, since I have not changed anything related to them.
mh do they update if you hover the item?
