Hi everyone,
I apologize in advance if my English is unclear â Iâm not very fluent, but Iâll do my best to explain the issue accurately.
In several applications, the option âDisable Single Finger Scrolling (Magic Mouse)â does not seem to work.
Even when I enable this option in the per-application settings, vertical scrolling with a single finger is not disabled.
On the other hand, when I enable âDisable Single Finger Horizontal Scrolling (Magic Mouse)â in the same settings screen, horizontal scrolling is correctly disabled.
Currently, the only Magic Mouse gestures I have configured in BetterTouchTool are:
ă»For All Apps â 2 Finger Swipe Up (Mission Control)
ă»For All Apps â 2 Finger Swipe Down (Show Desktop)
Here is my setup where the issue occurs:
ă»MacBook Air (2020, M1)
ă»macOS 15.7.2 (Sequoia)
ă»Magic Mouse (1st Generation)
ă»BetterTouchTool (5.750)
For testing, I even performed a clean installation of macOS 15.7 (Sequoia) without using Time Machine, and only installed BetterTouchTool.
The issue could be reproduced in the default Preview.app, so I donât believe this problem is specific to my macOS environment.
The applications where âDisable Single Finger Scrolling (Magic Mouse)â fails to work are mostly graphics-related. So far, I have confirmed it in:
ă»Preview (Apple)
ă»Pixelmator Pro (Apple)
ă»OmniGraffle (Omni Group)
As an additional note, if I enable âDisable Single Finger Scrolling (Magic Mouse)â both under âFor All Appsâ and again for the individual application (e.g., Preview.app), then single-finger scrolling is finally disabled.
(However, this also disables single-finger scrolling in Safari and other apps, so itâs not a practical solution.)
Could you please let me know if you have any insights or if thereâs something I should check on my side?
Iâd be happy to cooperate further and test anything you suggest.
Iâd really like to resolve this issue as soon as possible, and Iâd greatly appreciate your assistance.
Best regards,
Satoshi
