Hello and good evening,
Describe the bug
When using the function to resize and arrange the windows in the front, BTT only resizes the first window in front, not the others. Plus, it seems like it is moving the Excel window first to the left and then to the right.
What I would expect is that the two windows in the front (in my case one Excel and one Preview window) arrive side by side after the action. What actually happens is that Preview is left untouched, and that the Excel window is moving around a bit on the screen and then ending up on one half.
[@Andreas_Hegenberg you are the best, I love your software and I’m really grateful for your great work! So sorry to read that some people are not being polite.]
Device information:
- Type of Mac: MacBook Air M3
- macOS version: macOS Sequoia 15.3
- BetterTouchTool version: 5.151 (2025013004) (I know it’s not the latest Alpha, but I don’t believe this has been addressed recently — if I’m mistaken, I’m very sorry)
I think the issue might be that Excel somehow has several active windows without the user seeing it, and that BTT thinks these two are the windows in the front. And then it moves one to the left, one to the right, and what the user sees is that the window moves left, and then moves right.
I also tried to use the action to use the built in split-view, but it does nothing and I read somewhere on the forum that it is deprecated? It doesn’t show in BTT, but since it doesn’t do anything, it must be the reason.
This old issue with Excel seems to indicate that Excel is an annoying candidate for window arrangement:
If I could resize another window with an unknown title without activating it, that would also work for me, but that’s a feature request I made yesterday:
Have a great evening!
