Working middle-click 3 finger drag for 2025? #cad

I've seen this discussed a bunch, with no working fixes detailed.

I'm trying to get a middle-click drag for OnShape/CAD.

I'm using 3 finger drag, tap for clicks in Macos and have enabled:

I've tried multiple different 2 and 3 click options in BTT, tried w suggested profile below, didn't work, then tried adding a preset for taps, another for clicks (as someone else suggested) then had all presets triggered by option key, restarted BTT, and again nothing happens, no behaviour from normal 3-finger for either taps or clicks (working fine after enabling middle-click on non apple mouse in BTT, btw).

Emulate a real middle click (including dragging) with the trackpad. E.g. for CAD programs.

Followed the instructions, and it seems like you gotta use 3 fingers, and push to click. Anyway, I'd highly recommend you try to use a keyboard binding to achieve the 3 finger click action. That should be easier to do because it is gonna be tricky with the trackpad. Goes without saying, never be without a backup mouse when you need to do work in an app that uses the middle click but BTT does gives you wings, really might be fine with a keybind.

The preset you linked still works fine in general. However the system three finger dragging breaks a lot of things in BTT because it changes the fundamental behavior of the trackpad, maybe it's causing issues with this as well.

Or maybe it's just a misunderstanding on how the preset works? Basically you need to click with three fingers, then remove two of the three fingers and move the remaining finger to drag.

I unfortunately haven't been able to get it to work in any of the ways, or others have detailed, and I don't seem to be alone in that .

I'm only trying in OnShape, which is in browser, is that an issue? (easy to sign up and test).

I ideally simply want the 3 finger tap to emulate middle mouse down and drag, with a hotkey.

If I can still keep the 3 finger functionlity by disabling, then activating to the same effect in BTT, I'm down with that.

But yes, most likely it's being broken my three finger dragging, if you can, try to disable that.
