there is a general issue with spotify related to background keyboard events, here is a workaround:

Describe the bug I have been using the following setup since forever and it had always worked Keyboard Shortcut: Command+F8 (Play/Pause) > Send Space Shortcut to Spotify Since last few weeks, it has stopped working. It only works if I have Spotify as the foreground application. Have tried using other key combinations but facing the same issue.
