Window switcher does not activate window after modifier release

Once I activate the "Window switcher" I would like the selected window to be activated after the modifier key (cmd) is released, but sometimes (not sure if after macOS sleep, or simply after some time etc.) this is not working. I would like to switch between the 1st two windows by rapidly triggering the action. Here's my config:

I'm not sure but this might have something to do with the initial focus, because like you see on the screenshot the cursor is blinking and I can type.

After BTT restart it starts working normally until it doesn't. At the moment it is behaving incorrectly so if something is needed - logs etc. I can try to provide that info.

Example - the below screenshot I was able to capture after triggering that action, but as per my config this should not be possible since my modifier was released

You could try the "Hide Search Field" option - maybe that helps.

I'll check whether I can reproduce it. You could try to setup an explicit modifier key release action category for the shortcut you use:

Andreas, this partially works, but now once I execute my trigger (CMD+Tab) the window switcher is visible only for a split second even if CMD is still pressed.

@Volker, thank for this suggestion. I think this somehow "reset" the "Window Switcher" and now it works even if enable the Search field, but let see until when. However ideally I think this should not be necessary, it should work even if the field is shown.
