Window Snapping Menus: no destination preview for 'Resize Active Window To Specific Position & Size'

Describe the bug

When configuring a custom Window Snapping Menu item, using Resize Active Window To Specific Position & Size does not show a destination preview when selecting that item while dragging a window.

The documentation says:

A single supported resizing action can show a destination preview.

It recommends Move / Resize Window to Custom Position and Size for custom geometry:

I realise these are separate actions: the action I used is 446, whereas the documented Custom Move/Resize action is 251. Is action 446 intentionally unsupported for previews? If so, could preview support be added for its configured X/Y/Width/Height?

Steps to reproduce

  1. Under Automations & Named & Other Triggers, create or edit a Window Snapping Menus trigger.
  2. Open its Configure Snap Menu Items editor.
  3. Add a custom item whose only action is Resize Active Window To Specific Position & Size.
  4. Configure its X, Y, Width, and Height.
  5. Drag a window to the corresponding snapping position and select the custom item while continuing to hold the drag.

Expected behaviour

A destination rectangle previews the configured window position and size before releasing the dragged window.

Actual behaviour

No destination preview appears for this item.

Related enhancement: previews through Named Triggers

It would also be useful if a menu item could resolve a Named Trigger containing exactly one supported resizing action and display that action's destination preview.

This would let me reuse an existing window layout without duplicating its resize configuration in each snapping menu.

I'm requesting this for the simple, predictable case: one uniquely resolved Named Trigger containing one supported resizing action, with no additional actions or conditional logic.

Affected input device / feature

Window Snapping Menus; selecting a custom item while dragging a window.

Device information

  • Mac: MacBook Pro, Apple M2 Max (Mac14,6)
  • macOS: 26.6 (25G72)
  • BetterTouchTool: 6.958 (build 2026102001)

Additional information

The missing direct-action preview is the observed issue. Named Trigger resolution is a related enhancement request.

The documentation lists restrictions for Custom Move/Resize previews, including targeting one window, using a monitor reference on the display being dragged on, and avoiding cycling or restore toggles. This report concerns the separate action 446.

Screenshots / recording

True, I'll add previews for that action as well!

@Andreas_Hegenberg Thanks!

Would that also include the 'pass through' of a custom trigger part too?

yep I added both in 6.970 (uploading), would be great if you could test it with your setup

Thanks @Andreas_Hegenberg! Retested on 6.974 (build 2026102208), and both preview cases now work with my existing setup:

  • The left-edge snapping-menu item using 'Resize Active Window To Specific Position & Size' directly.
  • The top-left-corner item calling a 'Named Trigger' containing only that resizing action.

Both now show the custom destination rectangle before release. Both paths also produce the same 1268 × 940 window after release.

For completeness, the configured target is X=0, Y=0, Width=1268, Height=940; the released window is at X=0, Y=30, below the menu bar.

Thanks for adding support for both!
