Window snapping has stopped working (has been working for years)

I am completely up to date on the current version of BetterTouchTool, and I have also restarted my machine twice and turned on and off the accessibility settings as well in macOS.

Describe the bug
window snapping has stopped working

Screenshots
I may have potentially just missed a checkbox somewhere.I think I have everything checked and correct here.

if anybody could give me a list of things to check, or perhaps know how to fix this, that would be great. I use this all the time and I'm a bit lost with it

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: M3 13-inch Macbook Air
    • macOS version: 15.7.9
  • BetterTouchTool version: 6.861

Additional information (e.g. crash logs, related issues, etc.): no logs as no bugs reported

in your screenshot you are showing some snap areas, are you refering to custom snap areas or to the standard window snapping (standard snapping is dragging windows to the edges or corners of the screen to halves/maximize/quarters)

Possibly try to disable this new setting, maybe that is not compatible with macOS 15.x:

@Andreas_Hegenberg that didn't work, unfortunately. Thanks for your help with this. I did a restart as well. I've put below every screenshot I can think of of all the settings, including some of the ones in macOS as well. Perhaps some of these aren't configured quite right:

Is BTT maybe just disabled? Or potentially window snapping is disabled for specific app(s)?

I just checked on macOS 15 - everything is working fine here, so it is not a compatibility issue. Must be some setting!

I fixed it, and in case anybody else is having this issue, this is where the problem was:

at some point, the screen and system audio recording got disabled, so toggling that back on and doing a full computer restart fixed it.

thanks for your help!

@Andreas_Hegenberg I think I have found a separate bug that you might be interested in. So every time my computer goes to sleep and I come back to it, my window snapping areas do this, and then I have to move them back to the correct display....

So as you can see, they go back to display one stored:

And then what I have to do is move them back to the Retina built-in display. I've just had to do this twice when my computer went to the screensaver, so I think this may actually be a bug:

It is working when I move it back though.

This (Screen & System Audio) fixed my problem. It seems like after updating to v.6.885, my snap areas would not appear when moving a window like they used to. I rebooted, checked "Manage Snap Areas..." and my monitor(s), and snap areas presets were all present. Eventually I went into 'Screen & System Audio Recording' and noticed that BTT was not even listed. I added and enabled it- success!

I had the same exact issue as you. Thanks for highlighting it! On macOS Sequoia 15.7.9, I went to System Settings » Privacy & Security » Screen & System Audio Recording where I manually added the BetterTouchTool app and restarted it. Now it's working once again.
