Volume Buttons "stick" inconsistently (shouldn't stick)

macOS 10.14.6 on 2018 Mac

I have a volume up button and a volume down button. Sometimes when tapping one, it "sticks" and the volume just keeps going up or down. This doesn't happen with the brightness buttons.

Did you configure key repeat for the buttons? Possibly copy & paste the buttons here then I can try to reproduce it.
