Hi Y'All!
Seems like an advanced topic, so I'm asking it here.
In BTT, if I use the same keyboard shortcut for multiple triggers, BTT brings up a nice choice list dialog. The problem is, I'm always searching for the choice list dialog because it pops up wherever the mouse cursor left off from. Is there a way to customize where the BTT choice list dialog appears on the screen, consistently?
Here's what Copilot thinks:
In BetterTouchTool (BTT), the dialog that appears when you use the same keyboard shortcut for multiple triggers does indeed pop up near the mouse cursor’s last position. Unfortunately, there isn’t a built-in option to customize the exact position of this dialog on the screen.
However, here are a couple of workarounds you might consider:
- Use a Consistent Mouse Position: Try to keep your mouse cursor in a specific area of the screen when you trigger the shortcut. This way, the dialog will consistently appear in that location.
- Keyboard Shortcuts: Instead of relying on the mouse, you could use keyboard shortcuts to navigate the options in the dialog. This can help you avoid searching for the dialog on the screen.
- Custom Scripts: If you’re comfortable with scripting, you might explore using AppleScript or other automation tools to create a custom dialog that appears in a fixed position. This would require more setup but could provide the functionality you’re looking for.
Could anyone corroborate the above? The AI chat bots often get me unstuck, but they're very rarely 100% accurate. Clearly, I don't like the options given. I definitely don't want to have to move my mouse first, for instance.
