Unwanted Safari Quit and Pop-Up Boxes (BTT v. 4.298/MacBook Air M1/Sonoma)

I'm reaching out to seek help/report a bug for an issue I'm encountering with Better Touch Tool (BTT) on my MacBook Air M1, running the latest MacOS Sonoma release. I'm currently using BTT version 4.298.

The issue manifests every time I quit any application using the command+Q shortcut. Alongside the intended application quitting, Safari also unexpectedly quits, and several pop-up boxes appear with the text "what should I do with the selected text". This issue has been persistent and is significantly hindering my workflow.

I've gone through my BTT configurations and confirmed that I don't have any shortcuts set up that use the command+Q keyboard sequence. Additionally, I have tried enabling the "Always use old keyboard shortcut implementation" option in BTT settings, but this hasn't resolved the issue either.

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar problem.

Thank you in advance for your time and help!

// edit: the popup is most likely coming from the "Transform & Replace Selected Text With ChatGPT" action. Do you have that configured somewhere? Maybe specifically for Safari?

Thank you Andreas, I greatly appreciate your help.

Following your suggestion, I checked my BTT configuration and found that I indeed have a "Transform & Replace Selected Text With ChatGPT" action set up in two different triggers. However, these triggers have been disabled for several months now, and interestingly, I didn’t experience this issue during that period.

Should I remove these triggers/actions? I'm hesitant to remove them because I don't know if I would be able to replicate them but I’m happy to give it a try if it might help.

Thank you once again for your assistance and swift response.

what triggers are configured with that action?

Edit:

  1. The first trigger, GPTAPI, is set up as a "Reusable Named Trigger". Contains two actions: “Transform & Replace with Java Script” and “Transform & Replace with ChatGPT”
  2. The second trigger, labeled GPTAPI2, doesn’t have a trigger selected from the drop down menu but it does have the “Transform & Replace with ChatGPT” action.

However, the issue became only noticeable after a recent BTT update, despite these triggers being disabled long before.

Thank you

I currently can't think of a change that would affect this.
If possible go to Help => Export Diagnostic Debug Information and send the result to andreas@folivora.ai, then I can probably tell what's going on.

Thank you. I've just sent you an email with the log.

ah the logs shows the "Specific App Did Terminate" automation from the "Automations, Named & Other Triggers" section is being triggered.

There has indeed been a change that could cause this. Previously this trigger would not do anything if no app was configured for it, with the new version it will trigger for any app if no specific one is selected.

Have a look at the "Automations, Named & Other Triggers" section in BTT and look for the "Specific App Did Terminate" trigger

Indeed, another of the triggers was set for "Specific App Did Terminate." Disabling it has resolved the issue—thank you! Regarding the “Transform & Replace Selected Text With ChatGPT” triggers, should any adjustments be made, or can they remain as is?

Appreciate your help!

they should be fine!

Awesome. Million thanks!
