Hello,
This is the first time I'm working with floating menu configuration so I don't know if this is a known bug/unexpected behaviour or not.
I'm experiencing severe performance issues with any floating menu configuration interface.
The entire interface feels sluggish and unresponsive. When I interact with it—clicking buttons, typing, moving the mouse—there's a noticeable delay before the UI reacts. It's as if the application is lagging behind my inputs. Especially when focusing from any item (configuration) to another.
Also while working on a floating menu config then the actually floating menu feels sluggish as well, especially the hover effects. Usually the problem gets solved temporarily by restarting BTT but if I interact again with the floating menu config then it's again slow and sluggish.
Version 6.494 but also previous stable version had the same issue
did you maybe add some really large images to the floating menus? this cn currently severely impact the performance
The only non-canonic thing I did was to drag and drop an external icon for few items as they were not available in sf-icons set.
They are supposed to be svg so they should be very light but that's it.
I can also confirm that I previously selected a large file for the icon by mistake and it's been extremely painful to remove it! The entire ui got stuck and I had to wait several minutes to finally being able to "delete" that corrupted item
I think some svgs can indeed cause this because macOS renders them at very large sizes when converting them to pixel based graphics. Did you import them with the current version?
ah I see, no, I imported it using a previous version but the problem persists in the current version.
I can try re-importing the icon but if you think png is lighter and easier I can us that. I tough svg was the better choice
Ok, I tried with PNG and it seems it solve the problem.
Now they slowest item to render in the config menu are those with icons from sf-symbols
So PNG is faster to render than the native apple icons!
the latest versions should also auto down-size svgs
I'm on the latest stable 6.494
Maybe you mean the alfa releases?
