Hi,

First the good stuff - BTT is still amazing and a lifesaver, I love the updates @Andreas_Hegenberg made to the Window Switcher (and all the other great stuff, of course).

Now, the grumble - first image just captures little inconsistencies in the main Settings UI:

  • Wasted space on the sidebar
  • Titles not appearing
  • Repeated Settings button

Second image is probably me being dumb: whatever I do, in the h@llo.ai dialogs the entire window is draggable. Which means I cannot select text, cannot even drag the scroll bar.

No one else complains, so obviously this is a problem with my setup. But I very thoroughly wiped all traces of BTT, reinstalled, put in the key, and the effect is the same on fresh install. Looked through the options, too...

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: Macbook Pro M1 Max 64GB
  • macOS version: Latest MacOs Vista 26.5
  • BetterTouchTool version: 6.521 (comments valid for all latest versions)

These are intentional, the sidebar is generally made for being wider. In the compact mode you use, titles can not be displayed. You can drag the bar to be wider if you'd need app titles.

You can customize the top toolbar by right-clicking it if you want to remove the second settings - however they serve slightly different purposes.

For the draggability of the h@llo.ai, there is always some tradeoff with that I can add an option to disable the dragging nd only allow it at the titlebar.

If draggability is always on by design, how do you copy text ?!?

Also, seems there is a bug in 6.521 version - the hello.ai settings say:

"Extra API Parameters ( as JSON). For example with gpt-5 models use {"reasoning_effort": "low", "verbosity": "low"} to speed things up."

but actually they are incorrectly ptovided to the model and it errors out.

supported parameters depend on the specific model, did you check the model‘s docs for this?

And, all models hallucinate about "It’s in BetterTouchTool Preferences → AI / Assistants → "
I dont think there has been preferences in BTT in a long time, and definitely there is no AI/Assistants in the settings - but it would be great to inject the correct info into the model when it uses the BTT Expert skill, or maybe I should block it from using the documentation? It has the tools to discover reality, theoretically.

It's kinda sad to watch it struggle (file attached).
Admittedly, we are all spoiled these days by self-healing harnesses like Pi or Claude.

Ah, and also it seems that parts of the recent conversations are lost in the hello chat history.

Ah, another surpise:
seems like all models below 5.4 are in "thinking off" mode and have very limited ability to use the tools. Gpt-5.4 is actually able to shrug off the documentation and probe with the provided tools.

And somehow it enabled the MCP (BTTExternalMCPServerEnabled=1) and restarted BTT. Something that is totally beyound any of the lower models, full, mini or codex.

I havent tried to see how things would be on the Anthorpic side.
