Describe the bug
Typing is laggy when typing. Especially noticeable when using Apple Notes and Slack, but even the form I'm typing into now (in Safari) is lagging behind a bit.
Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.):
Keyboard input
Device information:
- Type of Mac: MacBook Pro 2019 and MacBook Pro 2015
- macOS version: 12.4 (21F79)
- BetterTouchTool version: 3.784 (May, 22, 2022) though it was already apparent in 3.777
Additional information (e.g. StackTraces, related issues, screenshots, workarounds, etc.):
is anything on your computer using a lot of cpu? (check via activity monitor )
one thing that can cause this in BTT is the experimental dropbox/icloud sync - which should not be used anymore.
I have checked Activity Monitor but don't see anything of concern, apart from BTT itself which intermittently jumps up to around 50% cpu usage.
The behaviour is identical on two Macs running the same BTT profile synced via iCloud.
Disabling iCloud syncing doesn't seem to make a difference.
50% for BTT is definitely not normal and could explain the lagging, do you have any scripts or other repeated tasks that run in BTT?
Have you tried restarting BTT after disabling the sync?
Possibly try to create a new preset inside of BTT and try disabling your existing one - just to see whether it’s something specific to your preset
I do have several keyboard triggered Applescripts and two timed triggers each of which runs once per day.
As for restarting - yes. In fact BTT still restarts itself every time it wakes from sleep despite having that option unchecked on all three of my Macs.
I have just done a big clear out of some triggers that were rarely used or were disabled, as well as an unneeded CAG. Things appear to have improved. BTT will jump up to around 10% CPU intermittently but the keyboard lag is less noticeable.
