0.3 secs right click.
Ah, unfortunately macOS seems to block the hover detection when the right mouse is pressed. I have some workarounds to make it still work on the items itself, but it currently fails on the pizza slice in this scenario. I'll check whether this can be fixed, but it might be complicated.
I changed it to single finger double tap, but now the "Actions Executed On Touch Release" option is not there (it is there for other triggers), so now it stays on forever.
Ok, solved that by clicking "Close after button press", but now I can't click outside to make it go away without any action (even though "Close after clicking outside" is checked).
Never mind, that only applies when trying it with the BTT window in focus. In other applications, it goes away when clicking outside. And if I switch to another application than BTT, it also goes away.
I guess it goes away if I click outside of the greater BTT, and not only outside the actual menu.
(Sorry for the spamming, but I'll leave it since it might be useful info for you.)
Thats really cool. Should be maybe as a permanent option (show running tasks or so). I waited long for a cmd + tab alternative.
Did you end up finding a fix for this? I'm still unable to see the pizza highlight when holding right click is the trigger. Would be nice to have, if possible.
Hi @Andreas_Hegenberg , upon opening CircularMenuTutorial2.bttpreset from the first post here, I noticed that another preset called "BTT Clipboard Manager" was also added to BTT.
It contains a conditional activation group and some simple actions related to the clipboard. I was a little surprised to see this second preset pop up, so I just wanted to confirm if it is related to a functionality of the Circular Floating Menu. Thanks!
that is not related to the floating menu, recent versions of BTT always add this to be able to customize the clipboard manager
Gotcha! I didn't find this in the release notes – maybe worth mentioning there? Thanks
Andreas, are we able to have Circular Manu for CURRENT active app?
Right now as far as I'm aware actions are executed for all apps in the circular menu.
something like below
you can copy the menu to different apps and modify it accordingly. Make sure the identifier stays the same, so it will be merged correctly
So let me get this straight, there is NO WAY to have a trackpad gesture>shows Circular Menu ONLY for CURRENT ACTIVE app?
Above picture is pretty neat because you can jump to any app and its triggers are for that specific app
There are many ways The question is a bit what exactly you would like to achieve.
I understood you'd like to have different items show for different apps. This can be achieved by copying the menu to different apps and modifying it. You don't need to modify your trackpad gesture then.
If you have defined the menu globally and app-specific, BTT will merge the items from the two menus once the specific app is active. You can even have multiple conditional activation groups (even multiple active at the same time) that contain the menu. This is really super flexible. You can make your menus very context aware using this setup.
Yes thats what I mean, I need to play around with it, I'm not really technical. but yes I think I can achieve this. will tinker with it and see if I can figure it out. Thank you again
For testing, it's easiest to just copy & paste the menu into a new app and delete all but one item from it:
I think that will help understanding how it works. In this example it would now show one additional item with a globe while Safari is active.
Thank you for that little intro. Will give it a go and see how things pan out.
hi there. i've been using the circular menu for a while under sonoma on my old intel mac. i've just migrated to a new M4 mac running sequioa and the menu doesn't seem to work any more. it pops up as expected and the icons change colour when hovered over, but releasing the mouse on a segment does nothing. is there a tweak i need to do somewhere to get it working again? many thanks! (BTT version 5.155, macos 15.1)
try upgrading to 5.158, there was a bug that broke the trigger on on hide option in some scenarios
that did it, thank you!
