Turn Off Horizontal Scrolling in Mail when using Magic Mouse

I bought BTT for one thing: To turn off horizontal gesture screwiness in Mail. In the Mail Messages List, if I move my finger the tiniest bit left or right on the Magic Mouse, the message I'm over slides to reveal Delete or Mark Read or some other thing I never want.
I've tried to turn this off with Terminal, but no worky.
I can't figure out how to get BTT to do this, either.

Does anyone know how to do this? If it's not possible, I'm going to throw the mouse in the trash.

(It's not really me using this mouse, it's my 86-year-old father.)

I might be very wrong on this, but I guess you can check the available mouse gestures, choose the desired one (hope you will find working one for your case, or you might create a custom one?) and assign the action "Start to Block Scrolling".

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately that does not work, and as far as I can determine, nothing does.

There is a very old option you can use:

In one of the next versions I'll be adding customizable scroll modifiers that will allow for more granular control.

I did try that, and it does not work. It disables vertical scrolling as well.

I’ve thrown the mouse away, and bought Dad a nice simple Logitech.

Consider changing your hype machine to let people know that BTT only has a certain amount of control over Magic mice. I’m not looking for a refund or anything, but I’m a bit annoyed that I wasted a few hours screwing around with software that doesn’t actually do what it says on the tin.

Sorry I used that phrase, it was rude, you're absolutely right.

It is, however, on your website. See attached image.

lol.

These are the kind of super entitled replies I hate most. People trying to help and then someone replying like this.

Hype machine?? WTF - This feature is not even mentioned on my website or documentation but still is used by a lot of people - it has been available for close to 15 years... really nothing hype about it.

And just FYI. If it blocks all scrolling you checked the wrong box

//edit: toned down my reply a bit

Thanks, then I‘m also sorry for my reply.

The website says BetterTouchTool allows you to customize the Magic Mouse - which it does. However it doesn’t mention the horizontal scroll blocking functionality, which is something quite specific.

However as mentioned I‘m currently working on more fine granular control over scroll events. This might already be included in the next version
