Trial expires right away after installation (same problem on 2 different MacOSes and Architectures)

Same problem on:

  • 2 different Macs
  • Mac OS Sonoma and Monterey
  • Apple Silicon and Intel
  • Latest version 4.779 as well as btt4.778-2024101807 / btt4.776-2024101805 / btt4.775-2024101803 / btt4.774-2024101802 / btt4.773-2024101801 / btt4.772-2024101701 / btt4.771-2024101606 / btt4.770-2024101605

Obviously always clean reinstalls after full uninstall (either manual including removing ~/Library/Preferences/com.hegenberg.BetterTouchTool.plist and ~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool as instructed in another thread, or using AppCleaner or App Cleaner & Uninstaller) to no avail...

The funny thing is that the about window always clearly indicates "Trial: 45 days left"

Note:
Before bug reporting, please make sure you have tried the latest (alpha) version of BetterTouchTool and that you have already tried to restart your system :-). If you encounter a crash, please attach a crash log from the macOS Console.app from the "User Diagnostic Reports" section.

Have you used BTT in the past on this machine? (if you want you can go to help => export diagnostic debug information and send the result to andreas@folivora.ai, then I can check why the trial expires - usually it is because the machines had been running BTT in the past)

Yes correct, I had installed over a year ago a trial version (and of course, way past expired version) on the machine. But I did a full uninstall before installing a clean version of the most recent version.

sorry, trials can only be used once! If you want to use it again you’ll need a license

understood. thanks
