Trackpad: 3 & 4-finger swipe up/down gestures are inconsistent

I probably should have posted this a long time ago as it’s been happening for quite some time.

In BTT, I have 4 finger swipe down set to Mission Control, and 3 finger swipe down set to Application Expose.

The problem is that if I execute either of these swipes, followed by the other swipe, it will trigger the first behavior again. If I repeat the swipe, it will then execute its behavior properly.

To illustrate:

  1. 4 finger swipe down, executes Mission Control.
  2. I then exit this mode (e.g. by hitting Esc key, or performing the gesture a second time)
  3. Then I perform 3 finger swipe down
  4. This gesture executes Mission Control—but it should execute App Expose
  5. I then exit this mode
  6. If I perform 3 finger swipe down again, it will now properly execute App Expose

I have all up/down-style gestures deactivated in System Settings.
