Tip Tap Middle to MiddleClick action not reliable

When performing a Tip Tap Middle to trigger a Middle Click, the intended behavior of middle clicking does not trigger more than half the time. For example, when middle clicking links in Safari, a lot of the times a new tab doesn’t open when it should. This unexpected behavior also occurs for other gestures like Three Finger Tap.

Affected input device: Magic Mouse/Trackpad

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MacBook Pro M3
  • macOS version: 26 Tahoe
  • BetterTouchTool version: Latest Stable Build

make sure conflicting tap gestures in system settings => trackpad are disabled (especially three finger tap)

Also these kind of clicks do not work well if three finger dragging is enabled in System Settings => Accessibility

Thanks for responding. I don’t see a three finger tap gesture in macOS Settings > Trackpad.

3 Finger Dragging is disabled already in Accessibility.

Then it should work ok. Could you maybe check whether your live view looks like this?

(in BTT’s menubar go to View => Show Live View)

Yes it sometimes registers as TipTapMiddle but not all the time just like when actually trying to use the gesture in Safari to click links. The Live View doesn’t register half the time. Sometimes I have to reposition my fingers. Sometimes it’s just random when it’ll start working again.

Could you post a quick video of the live view? Maybe I can see what’s wrong (it seems to work in pretty much 100% of my tries here)

When I compare my video to yours. It seems that your fingers are wider apart most of the time.

You could try to lower the minimum required distance so something like 0,015:

Is there a similar setting for the Magic Mouse? I didn't see any. I want to have the same gesture for both Trackpad and Magic Mouse. Thanks.
