The app menu bar disappears time to time

Describe the bug
The app menu may sometimes disappear, leaving no way to update the app. The functions still work fine, though. This happens whether or not the menubar icon is enabled. Sometimes the menu reappears after clicking somewhere; other times, you need to restart the app.

macOS does hide menubar icons if there is not enough space. Closing some other items should help.
