Safari asks me to verify my identify with BetterTouchTool's certificate whenever I open a local instance of Unifi Protect. These services have nothing to do with each other so why is BTT's certificate appearing here?
If I cancel the dialog twice the website works fine until I refresh the page. Similarly, if I delete the certificate from my keychain the website works fine and never pops up any dialog... until I restart BTT and it reinstalls the certificate.
What is up with this certificate that is causing it to appear or have anything to do with a completely unrelated website?
probably Safari just shows the only client certificate you have installed in your keychain. If you install others they will also show up there. BTT uses that to encrypt various local connections (e.g for BTT Remote or even using the integrated webserver). It‘s (re)generated whenever BTT lauches
(not sure why unifiy protect requests a client certificate though, that’s something you need to ask them, probably they allow logging in without username password if a matching client cert is installed)
I'm afraid I don't have another client certificate to test with.
I never use BTT's Remote support feature. Would it be possible to only install the certificate if that feature is enabled to prevent certificates being added to the keychain unnecessarily?
