Strange characters when pasting

@Andreas_Hegenberg I may have already asked this question, but unfortunately I no longer know the answer. So, sorry in advance.

When I copy a text from Gemini (AI) and then paste it into a text app (for example TexEdit), strange characters appear, although the text appears correctly in the BTT Clipboard Manager. Can I do something about this? Thanks.

This is what the text looks like in the BTT Clipboard Manager

And this is what the text looks like when I paste it

weird, looks like the target does doesn’t support utf8 - does it work if you do normal copy paste?

Is your BTT clipboard manager set to use standard pasting (with format) ? Does it work if you click the paste plain text button?

Ah, yes, it works with "Ohne Formatierung". Okay, that's one solution. Unfortunately, it also loses formatting that I would prefer to keep.

What do you mean by “normal”?

I mean the standard macOS copy & paste, does that work?

I have quit BTT and tried TextEdit, Apple Notes, Sticky, Scrivener, Devonthink, it doesn't work in any of these apps.

then unfortunately it’s a bug in gemini ai ;-(

I'm sure you're right. I can paste without formatting.

But isn't that strange? The text is transferred correctly from the source (Gemini), otherwise you would already see the error in the BTT clipboard manager. The error seems to occur when pasting to another app.

the problem is in how the clipboard works. Everytime you copy something the system will save multiple „formats“, then when you paste something the target app will decide which format fits best.

Now it looks like gemini ai puts some formats correctly, but messes up the one that’s needed to paste with format.
