starting over with BTT but keep current triggers & actions?

I'm not a sophisticated user.
I'm running MacOS Monterey 12.4 & BTT 3.816 (1960) on a MacBook Pro (2019)

I'd like to "start over" then reinstate all my current tiggers & actions because:

  1. many items in my home folder's Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool folder have zero bytes & appear related to very old versions of BTT
  2. BTT will not update automatically
  3. on choosing from BTT menu "Check for regular updates" →
    Update Error
BetterTouchTool can’t be updated when it’s running from a read-only volume like a disk image or an optical drive. Move BetterTouchTool to Applications folder using Finder, relaunch it from there, and try again.
  4. When I check System Preferences - Login Items after restarting BTT, I accumulate entries of BTT with Kind=unknown and a yellow triangle "caution" icon

Can I save on an external disk all my triggers & actions & preferences to reinstate them after deleting everything related to BTT? How do that?

Is it OK to delete all BBT folders & files from my MacBook using an app like AppDelete, then download a fresh copy of BTT, give it my license, then (how?) reinstate all triggers & actions, preferences?

I need detailed help, step by step. Thanks much!

Answered my own question with an experiment …

  1. to preserve the existing state in case things went awry:
    exported my current preset
    compressed ~Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool folder
compressed the BTT application in Applications folder
  2. deleted the uncompressed
BTT application from the Applications folder
    ~Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool folder
  3. downloaded latest BTT from the website
  4. opened #3 & imported the saved (exported) present from #1
  5. activated my license
→ all is good: I've started over & kept current triggers & actions
