Spotify crashes whenever I right click on something

Note:

Before bug reporting, please make sure you have tried the latest (alpha) version of BetterTouchTool and that you have already tried to restart your system :-). If you encounter a crash, please attach a crash log from the macOS Console.app from the "User Diagnostic Reports" section.

Describe the bug

When I right click on anything in Spotify it crashes instantly. Confirmed it is BTT because when I check the option "Disable Bettertouchtool completely" for Spotify, then everything works normally.

Affected input device: MacBook Trackpad and Magic Mouse/Trackpad

I'm getting something very similar since upgrading Spotify yesterday. Any left click inside Spotify causes it to crash. Disabling BTT for Spotify stops it.

Restart and install the software. After opening it, click "Allow" on the system pop-up window that appears (this is not a window generated by the software itself).

If no window pops up, close and restart the software. The key to solving the problem is to agree to the system pop-up window – specifically the one that appears simultaneously when setting up the API. You must agree to it.

If the window still does not appear, restart your computer or exit the software and re-enter it.

please also report the crashing issue to spotify, it’s a bug in their Accessibility API support. (I assume they are getting many crashlogs because this is triggered by various apps, not only BTT)

You can probably workaround it by disabling window snapping for spotify:

Will log on issue on Spotify. However disabling window snapping doesn't resolve the issue. I tried all the other disable options. It has to be the disable completely option for it to work. :folded_hands:

Spoke to their support team and they said they will pass it along to their dev team. We will see how long it takes to fix. In the meantime I have reverted Spotify to 1.2.69.449.gfda8591a and everything works again.

You can download previous Spotify versions here https://loadspot.pages.dev/

This issue has been fixed in Spotify 1.2.71.421.g794ff5e5 :tada:
