Hi I am trying to use BTT as a text-expander and just purchased the lifetime plan, but I don't see snippets or text-expander anywhere in the manual documentation. How do I do this?
I tried to use the trial beforehand to see if I could do this, but the app advertises this function, however there is nothing in the help menu of the app itself about snippets or text-expansion, or importing snippets from other apps. If it cannot do this, can I get a refund? Apparently I used the trial function a long time ago and therefore I was not able to trial the text-expansion function, which seems to be a bit more effort than I expected for the cost.
Hi @dancho,
You can implement text-expander functionality using the "**Key Sequences / Typed Words" Triggers. Here's a link to the relevant docs: Key Sequence Triggers ยท GitBook
Hello @fortred2 , the problem is I have 100's of snippets, and I need to import them, but I cannot as it seems the "text expander" capabilities of BTT are rather something the user has to program individually, and cannot import as a csv. I cannot afford the time to type these in individually, may I request a refund please, glad to give up the license.
I was previously using TypeIt4Me, but the app was glitching and pasting previous clipboard items rather than the desired snippet, so I am trying alternatives. Sadly I don't think BTT has import snippets function? May I request a refund please, it doesn't function as a "text expander" quite as expected, but rather requires a time-expensive investment to recreate the previously used set of "snippets"
I'll trigger a refund soon. Just be aware that refunding lifetime licenses results in a permanent ban of the machines that activated the license, they won't be able to run BTT in the future anymore.
Thank you that is the ideal solution at the moment. If the app is updated in the future with proper snippet function of a text expander, I will be glad to purchase with a different device. That is unfortunate that BTT has a perma-ban function in this case, as I could not even trial it due to experimenting with the app many years ago without a use case at that time, but it is what it is I understand. Thank you.
