Snap Areas keeps restoring windows to old size

Hi all!

I am finally trying to fix Snap Areas stubbornly restoring windows to old sizes when I move the windows. I know the first answer is to choose “Classic Resizing,” and admittedly, I did not have that selected at first, but I do now (please see attached screenshot). I have NOT selected “Restore old window size,” and I have tried selecting and then deselecting, but that’s about all I can think of. Is there anything else that I can try?

Thank you!

I don't think BTT has any function to restore window sizes that would work while this option is turned off. Do you maybe have another window snapping tool running? (Maybe my other app, BetterSnapTool?)

Hi there! I actually don’t want it to restore window sizes. For example, when I move a window to a corner, so it adjusts to be a quarter of the screen, I would like it to stay that size when I move it. That was the default behaviour, I believe, for . . . like ever, at least until Apple introduced their own native resizing.

Ah HA! That just led me indirectly to the solution. I also had window tiling turned on in Apple’s own settings. I turned that off, and poof, back to what I wanted!

Well, we got there eventually, lol!

Thanks for such a great product!

Ah sorry now I understood! You meant the standard window snapping  . Snap areas are a separate feature in BTT that allows you to define custom areas to drag windows into to resize them Custom Snap Areas · BetterTouchTool Documentation

Yes, I have not been brave enough to try that feature yet, but I might in the future. Thanks again!
