For the smooth mouse scrolling, have you seen https://mos.caldis.me? Currently I’m using it and looking to replace it with your smooth scrolling settings, but couldn’t replicate the type of smoothness there. They add a duration settings of the animations, or i don’t know what they did inside to get it.
For example when i scroll a slightly faster, for BTT it would show really harsh acceleration and deceleration for each “click” scrolled. What should happen is it should be more like a track pad where we don’t see these individual steps over a certain threshold speed. I tried using the accel/decel curve, but it really just lets me set 0-2 and doesn’t seem to have much effect.
I have tried MOS in the past, it was part of why I created BTT's smooth scroll modifier because personally I like BTT's implementation much better and MOS never really worked well for me. I would recommend to keep running MOS if you prefer that style - which is totally fair - but it has never worked well for me and the trackpad like scrolling has always been broken when I tried it. (I.e. horizontal scrolling Calendar's week view did not work properly, scrolling horizontally to go back/forward in Safari and scrolling horizontally to e.g. archive items in Mail also failed)
There have been similar discussions in the past:
It might also depend on the mouse (I'm using MX Master 3 and 4 which both seem to work quite smoothly with BTT's smooth scrolling)
Yeah thanks, no issues. I guess i’ll have to keep it for now, was hoping maybe one day adding more smooth scrolling settings would release me from using one more bg process.
Maybe a quick question, which version of BTT are you currently running? Because there have been big improvements to the smooth scrolling modifier a few weeks ago.
Is always the latest v6.484, i have the MX Master 3S. I feel some settings have not much effect, example the Smoothness, I struggle to see a difference. Or i'm not sure how to trigger the difference. Same with acceleration curve.
You did it! 6.594 has surpassed MOS! Amazing job. One thing is some of the setting arent too clear such as "slow tick distance" and how it seems to work with "slow wheel response". I just had to do knob turning till it feels right, it worked though at the end. I sort of knew you were cooking.
