I'm using Macbook to connect to remote Win11 machine
If I need to use 'delete' key, I have to press FN+Delete on my ketboard.
So I tried to assign a better shortcut for this: '+' and 'delete' keys.
But BTT doesn't recognize this keys pressed simultaneously (neither in keyboard shortcuts nor in key sequence sections)
Is there a solution to assign delete function for this shortcut?
I'm not 100% sure if this is the same, since on my MacBook I do not have a "delete" key, but a ⌫ key (quick check online shows that these buttons are the same but still...)
For me they are being recognized using key sequence, but I cannot find a way to configure it properly. I expect that using the following config:
I should be able to press "=" and then "⌫" to delete 1 character. If I keep pressing "=" and repeatedly hit "⌫" more characters should be deleted. However non of this is working unless I try to press both keys at the same time and not like a key sequence. I guess that this has something to do with the timings, but I was not able to figure it out.
I guess what you want cannot be achieved atm using shortcuts, since a shortcut should include/start with a modifier key? You cannot create a shortcut starting with "=", but you can do "CMD" and then "=".
You're right, we cannot create shortcut since it has to include the modifier key. And that is a problem.. Why shortcuts has to contain the modifier key and what is the problem not to have one?
the problem is, if no modifier key was included you wouldn't be able to use the standard functions of the key anymore. You can configure this in BTT if you want (disable the keys by remapping them to do nothing, then create a key sequence that uses them), however I assume this is not what you want.
On my windows machine I use specific software, which recognizes press of backspace key as delete key (it deletes objects). When I'm working on windows machine directly from the keyboard attached to this machine it acts this way.
When I connect through Anydesk remotely to this machine from my Mac, pressing backspace on Mac keyboard do nothing. A have to press FN+delete which is not quite convenient.
Is there a way to make BTT while pressing backspace on Mac act the same as keyboard works on windows machine (I suppose when pressing backspace, if I'm not editing text send delete instead of backspace)?
I think there is a misunderstanding on what the "delete characters" option is doing. It is used to delete input produced by the key sequence. It is intended for things like deleting a typed trigger word after it has been recognized.
You would need to assign an action that does the deleting, but this all will not work well - especially not in apps like AnyDesktop. The only way to make it work reliably would be to remap these keys to "nothing" first and then record the key sequence
I'm aware what "delete characters" option is doing. I'm curious why if i press the two keys at the same time the trigger is executing the assigned action (delete forward ⌦), but if I press "=" and then "⌫" nothing happens + am I understanding the option "Allow to trigger again by repeating last key-down (without having to lift all other keys)" correctly - check my previous post what my expectation is?
I'm not using AnyDesk or similar, I'm trying to use the trigger (key sequence) on my macOS, e.g. in browsers.
Mm, I'm not an expert in logic. But it seems to me that both conditions cannot be fulfilled at the same time. You need to separate the conditions and use a number that BTT indicates. I have a German keyboard. I assume you have different values.
