Show / Hide Specific App no longer works

Note:
Before bug reporting, please make sure you have tried the latest (alpha) version of BetterTouchTool and that you have already tried to restart your system :-). If you encounter a crash, please attach a crash log from the macOS Console.app from the "User Diagnostic Reports" section.

Describe the bug
Migrated to a new machine. M4 Macbook pro 16 running 15.6.1 (24G90)
BTT version 5.601
Imported setup from a working machine.

The show/hide specific app function no longer works if the app is not already running, which used to work fine before, i.e. used to launch the app if it was not running already. Testing now, I have to have the app running prior and then in only shows and hides.

Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.):
Keyboard shortcut (I believe it would apply across any input)

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: Macbook pro 16 M4
  • macOS version: 15.6.1 (24G90)
  • BetterTouchTool version: (please post the exact version - not just "the latest one"): 5.601

Additional information (e.g. crash logs, related issues, etc.):

Same here. Show/Hide only toggles window when the app is running, it does not work (opening app, as previous versions did) when that app is not running.

Hey good point, that was a stupid typo. Should be resolved in 5.602 (uploading now)

Hi Andreas, I've updated to 5.602 alpha on my mac (running latest Tahoe 26 developer beta). But the problem is still there. It only works when the target app is already running. Can you take another look? Thanks for the quick fix though.

ah sorry you are right, the fix didn't make it in 5.602... it is included in 5.603 which is building & uploading now.

Can confirm it's fixed! Thanks for your timely response.

After the Mac wakes from sleep, most gestures on an external trackpad (such as the Magic Trackpad) work normally, but the three-finger tap and four-finger tap gestures stop functioning. At this point, you need to enable…

thank you
