Show Floating WebView

@Andreas_Hegenberg When playing a youtube vid. in Show Floating WebView (html inserted). After closing the webview window (by cmd-w or red dot upper left corner). The youtube audio keeps playing. Is this expected behaviour?

macOS: Sequoia (15.5)
BetterTouchTool: 5.486

If you are using the old "Show Floating WebView/HTML Menu" action, you can activate this option:

For floating menus it's now opt in:

have this already checked

I think you are right, there was a potential retain cycles (i.e. the webview not really being closed) with some configurations. Could you check whether 5.489 solves this for you? (uploading now)

red dot upper left corner closes the window and audio, cmd-w closes the window but not the audio

Noticed today that doubleclick(to maximize) on the webview window crashes BetterTouchTool

Could you share that webview? (I can't seem to reproduce that crash here)
Or alternatively can you share the crashlog from the macOS console app?

Btw, the next alpha should also stop the audio on cmd+w

Hey @Andreas_Hegenberg just tested in latest Alpha, unfortunately the BetterTouchTool crash still occurs when double clicking the webview.

macOS: Sequoia (15.5)
BetterTouchTool: 5.493

unfortunately the crashlog was too generic to figure out what's wrong.
It's probably a specific combination of webview settings because I can't reproduce it here with the defaults. If you can share a sample webview I will probably be able to reproduce it.

Deleted the action Show Floating WebView: (null), restarted BetterTouchTool and added the action(default settings) and html again in the same keyb.trigger. Now it isn't crashing after double click (full screen resize works now). But audio keeps playing when closing the webview by cmd-w or red traffic light.

you probably need to check the “do not keep active in background” checkbox again: Show Floating WebView - #2 by Andreas_Hegenberg

Yeah default it's not checked. But when checked and closing (only cmd-w or double click to max.) the webview BetterTouchTool crashes.

could you share that webview? I'm still unable to reproduce (right-click the trigger in BTT, export to file)

thx!

mh unfortunately I'm still unable to reproduce, this is still happening for your with the latest alpha, correct?

Yes, I'm on
macOS: Sequoia (15.5)
BetterTouchTool: 5.497

Did you try double clicking the webview after changing the vid in the dropdown?
