I've noticed that when I apply a transparency--and shadows are also applied--the shadow spreads under the floating menu, darkening the transparency. Would it be possible mask out the shape of the menu? That way the transparency and shadow would never interact.
Yikes, nevermind. It looks like the shadow that was darkening the menu was from the text. I turned it off and everything was fine.
