Settings Configuration discrepancies.

I am not sure if this is a feature request or really a bug report.

If you go into settings ⌘. you can select on the left side items like Touch Bar, steam deck, Notch etc.. inside each of those items at the very top there is a check box option to enable or disable them.

This does nothing. it is as if checking or unchecking these have zero effect on the software. WHY?

one would think that if you unselect enable Touch Bar support that it would remove those items from working, or more to the point, not show them inside the configuration section of the software. Why would one want this?? well, for those of us without the specific hardware to support those items, then why would we want to include them in the configuration ? the new design now shows icons across the top of the configuration screen with a pull down menu for each of the sections. They show and alloy you to add functions to what you have selected as disabled in the settings. That just doesn't make sense to me.

if you want to hide sections from the dropdown menu you can do that here:

To remove from the quick access bar, right click the bar:

There are various scenarios where you might want to disable a feature temporarily but still be able to access your configuration

I had done the flagging already inside the user interface but as you pointed out in the next part below, to remove the menu icons you need to right click on each for the trigger sections that you also don't want displayed and remove them each individually. this to me is just confusing for the user and I would think it would be a better UI design to remove them with the selection made in the settings. Currently if you do remove icon, you can also right click and select restore removed items.. could this not get changed to show hidden items for the off chance person who has the scenario that might want to disable a feature and have the menu items hidden but suddenly need to gain access to that feature and doesn't want to go into setting and just unclick it from being hidden??

yep, I do have plans to unify this stuff, however it‘s currently not super high on my TODO list and I need to think about the various side effects. For now I‘d recommend to hide the categories you don’t need
