Scroll Wheel Inversion Not Working and Logitech Config Issues

Note:
Before bug reporting, please make sure you have tried the latest (alpha) version of BetterTouchTool and that you have already tried to restart your system :-). If you encounter a crash, please attach a crash log from the macOS Console.app's "Crash Reports" section.

Describe the bug

  • Invert scroll wheel in mouse settings is not working. Inversion is not happening to logitech mouse as well as third party mice
  • Unable to set logitech config when two mice are paired to same bolt receiver. The selected device keeps disappearing or changing
  • Invert main scroll wheel not working in logitech mouse config (when only one logitech mouse is present, I am able to set config, but it has no effect)

Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.):

Logitech Lift, Logitech Mobi Fold, cirque trackpad (treated as generic mouse)

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: Macbook Pro 14 M1 Max
  • macOS version: Golden Gate beta (also tried on Tahoe 26.5.1, same issue)
  • BetterTouchTool version: 6.584

best use the reverse scroll direction scroll modifier, not all mice support the hardware scroll reverse:

I do have many logitech devices connected, could you post a screenshot of what doesn’t work for you?
In general you need to create a separate Logitech Mouse Configuration for every connected mouse.

On my work laptop, which is Mac 26.4, the behavior is even weirder.

Regardless of what the checkbox is set to, bettertouchtool is inverting the scroll wheel on all mice (both Logitech mice and the cirque trackpad).

Something is broken with the mouse wheel toggle it seems.

I have no mouse triggers configured and the checkbox is not checked and still, it is inverting the scroll.

I don’t use BTT to manage my mice on my work laptop. I just installed it to get the new snapping and this is the odd behavior I am seeing.

in general the toggle works fine, these bettertouchtool versions are running und hundreds of thousands of machines. Does quitting BTT fix your scroll direction?

Do you maybe have the inversion activated in system settings? (natural scrolling)

In any case you can use the mentioned scroll modifiers to adjust the behavior

Yes when I quit BTT, the scrolling goes back to normal on my work laptop.

I am using Logitech options on work laptop. It’s set to natural scrolling for the mobi fold and standard for lift.

When BTT is running, both are inversed.

I decided to try the cirque trackpad (which has no drivers), same behavior. It is getting inverted as soon as BTT is opened.

On my personal machine, the checkbox is not working and has no affect. On my work machine, the checkbox seems to always be activated, with the same mice.

Might be some edge case or a bug or something else. Please let me know if you need me to share any logs.

are you sure there is no scroll modifier in your normal mouse section on your work machine? maybe you imported some preset?

I can’t really think of anything else, BTT does not have any reversing logic outside of the checkbox and scroll modifiers

If you want you can export your preset and send it to me (andreas@folivora.ai)
