Right-click not behaving as expected

I use force clicks for quick screenshots...

  • 2 finger force click - shift command 3 - fullscreen screenshot
  • 3 finger force click - shift command 4 spacebar - window screenshot
  • 4 finger force click - shift command 4 - custom sized screenshot

I also have the 2 finger click action set to right-click (with the macOS right click setting disabled in the Settings app).

Problem
The built-in macOS right-click triggers as soon as the trackpad is pressed with 2 fingers. With the BTT version of right-click, the contextual menu doesn't appear until my fingers lift up from the trackpad. This would work fine in my case, but I'm noticing that this right-click behavior doesn't work when right-clicking on messages in the Messages app. It behaves everywhere else just fine. I sometimes need to use right-click in Messages to edit a sent message. The current workaround is to hold Ctrl and left click.

Question
Is this a bug, or am I simply doing something wrong? I tried switching the 2 finger click action in BTT to Ctrl + left click to see if this fixed it, but that didn't work and seemed to treat all clicks on my trackpad like a right-click, which made the contextual menu appear constantly.

Thanks for your help!

EDIT
BTT right-click does work when right-clicking on links, just not on text bubbles, neither sent nor received.

Have you updated to Sequoia 15.0 by any chance? I am having the exact same issue.

My current work around is to turn 'off' Secondary Click in Trackpad under System Preferences and in BTT, create a new shortcut. 2 Finger Tap = Right Click.

This also might help - 2 finger click triggers a left click - #5 by Andreas_Hegenberg

Sorry - I meant to include what version of macOS I'm running. Yes, I'm in Sequoia 15.0.

Thanks for linking that thread! I'll have to read it. I tried to search the forum but didn't see that thread.

I added some workarounds for right-click in messages with v4.726 alpha! (when using the standard "rightclick" action in BTT)

Thanks! I love this app!!!
