Restore settings from timemachine backup

Hello,

I neglected to take a backup of my settings before doing a clean install of Catalina. I have a full time machine backup though. Is there a way I can extract my settings from there and use them in my new install?

Thanks,
Ben

No one replied to this. Did you ever figure it out?

You need to restore these:

~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool
and
~/Library/Preferences/com.hegenberg.BetterTouchTool.plist

(go to ~/Library via Finder => Go => Go to Folder, make sure to include the ~)

I erased my machine and forget to export the settings, but they are on a timemachinebackup.
Is there a way to extract one specific setup? (I made one a bit more complicated one for the Griffin powermate)

I think I don't fully understand your question.
You just need to know the date when you had created that setup, then time machine let's you select the folder at that date. (Most likely you just need to use the latest one)

Restore the full ~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool folder

I forgot to mention that the backup is from a different computer, wich has many settings I don't want to bring in to the other computer.
i don't want to restore everything from the backup .. just one particular setting (the one for the powermate).
Is that possible? If not I'd redo it I think.

That's not possible, but you can restore the whole folder, open BTT, then export just that setting to a preset and then delete the folder again.

you can then import just that preset into a fresh installation
