Trying to get keysequnces to work. But no matter what i do i cant get it to consistently remove the typed letters. For example b-t-t: "bttBetter Touchtool", adding the cmd z option makes it work in some places and it removes the initial letters, but in this text field it removes half a sentens.
Deleting typed charachters (3) just deletes the last 3 letters of "Touchtool".
Hey @wellwell , just to be on the same page can you provide screenshot of your configuration for this trigger?
I tried all the settings. But now only using "do cmd z" setting it removes what I've written before the keyboard sequence including b-t-t. So if I would open a new note and just write "b-t-t" i would work fine and remove those letters.
I guess the only way is to add "press left arrow" until its at the beginning of the word and then delete 3 letters. I have Keyboard Maestro as well. Im going to test it there.
I was just wondering if someone else could get it to consistently work with removing the keyboard sequence. As of now it works in some places, under certain conditions.
My plan then was to add all the English contraction words with apostrophes. I always mess up the formating/spelling of those.
BTT key sequences normally work as they should. However, there are various settings that change the behavior, perhaps not the way you want it. That's why a screenshot would have been helpful, as suggested by @xidiot
yep or even better than a screenshot, export one that doesn’t work to a file and attach it here. In general this should be working fine, but I feel there is some misunderstanding somewhere
This is with cmd z active. As said it works fine if theres no prior text. With deleting letters setting on it just deletes the end of the word.
exported_triggers.bttpreset (5.5 KB)
Ok. So when you activate "delete typed..." it counts up and down and ads the wrong number of charachters to delete? Does it do that for you as well?
It seems to work ok here for standard cases
However there are definitely scenarios where it doesn't get the "correct" number.
Must have been something strange that time. Why is there a cmd z option as well? It confused me a bit.
in some situations it's not possible to send delete commands or they could delete the wrong thing (e.g. when it wasn't a text input where the sequence was typed)
@wellwell Just to make your BTT life easier in the future, the "problem" with the 6 characters would have been noticed immediately if you had posted a screenshot right at the beginning. No offense
And one more thing, because that could also become a problem if you don't take it into account. With KM it doesn't matter in what time a certain number of characters are typed. With BTT it does. So if you type a lot of characters or you type slowly, it may be necessary to increase the default value of 0.3 s. Otherwise nothing is triggered.
