Remap key to use shortcut from another keyboard layout/language

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for a way to remap my keyboard to use shortcuts that work on another keyboard language. Specifically this is to control playback speed on YouTube which has shortcuts that work only on US layout as far as I know, at least in my language they don’t work - despite trying pressing the corresponding keys

I haven’t found a way for MacOS to adapt to that so I’m turning to BTT to achieve that. I have tried creating Keyboard Shortcuts in the corresponding tab but even changing language between recording the trigger keys and the keys I want actually pressed. This does not seem to do anything unfortunately - remapping the keys to themselves only.

Has anyone managed such remapping ? Or even a way to make MacOS adapt shortcuts to language ?

Thanks a lot for any help !

The only way would be to build a action sequence that first changes your keyboard layout using the predefined action "Change Input Source / keyboard layout", add some delay, send the shortcut, then revert back to your keyboard layout.

However as far as I know youtube has multiple shortcuts due to the keyboard layout difficulties. There is shift+< and > and there is shift + dot and shift +comma. One of them should probably work in any language.

Thank you for the quick answer !

The solution feels a bit too clunky to be practical especially if there is a need for delay and I need to increase speed multiple times so x times delay - really unfortunate that MacOS does not really adapt to other layouts.

The weird thing is > works (Shift + < on my ISO layout) but the < key alone does not do anything so I am only able to increase the speed this way.

Might try your suggestion if there is no quick and easy fix - appreciate the possibility to do a sort of macro/workaround for that with BTT anyway !

the delay should not be noticable, something like 50ms should be enough, but I haven not tried it!
