Curious if it's possible using BTT to detect if a specific app is trying to launch, so that I can check some variable before it does...
can you describe your exact usecase?
I don't think there is something that could indicate "before launch", either the app is launched or not. However there might be a difference between launched and activated, depending on the app:
Unfortunately that did not work, at least not for the Insta360 Studio app.
Its terribly coded.. if launched without the external drive that projects are stored on, it loses it's mind forgetting to check when the app is launched there after..
Was hoping to capture it "launching", check if the external drive is mounted, if not force close (halt) the app from launching..
Thanks for the quick answer/response

Will try through Alfred instead; since I use that as a full spotlight replacement. And only launch apps through "Spotlight" (Alfred) as I never use the MacOS App Drawer or Desktop icons.
yep in that case alfred is definitely the best option!
