Open link in new window, maximized to right half of screen

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to create an action in BetterTouchTool that does the following:

• When I click on a specific link in a browser,

• The link should open in a new window,

• And that new window should be automatically moved and maximized to the right half of the screen .

I’m looking for something similar to what the Chrome extension MultiWindow Positioner does. However, I’m not using that extension because, for some reason, the specific link I need to open is not being recognized by it — even though the pattern seems correct.

Is it possible to replicate this behavior using BetterTouchTool? If so, I’d really appreciate any guidance.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

In chrome you can use opt + shift +click to open a link in a new window. So using the custom click action followed by a small delay, followed by the window resizing action should work fine.

Hi Andreas, thanks a lot for your reply — it’s great to hear directly from you!

Your tool is fantastic. I’ve been using BetterTouchTool for years and it really improves my workflow on the Mac. Thanks for building it.

Just a quick question: in Microsoft Edge, the shortcut to open a link in a new window is Shift + Click. I tried using that as a trigger in BTT, but when I do, Edge doesn’t open the link in a new window anymore — only the BTT action runs.

Is there a way to keep the native Shift + Click behavior and still trigger the BTT sequence?

Thanks again — and greetings from Brazil!:brazil:
