Now Playing Widget - way to ignore certain apps (like Ring)?

I just got a Ring doorbell, and when using the Ring app, if i play any videos in the Ring app, the now playing widget thinks that the Ring app is the current player and I'm unable to use play/pause/skip buttons and the widget shows Ring until I quit the app or restart iTunes.

I'm guessing this has to do with the Apple apis rather than BTT? Does anyone know any workarounds to have the now playing widget ignore other/certain apps? I know I could hack the play/pause/skip buttons to target itunes directly instead of asking BTT for the currently playing app, but having that ignore other apps would be helpful too.

I was wondering the same thing today, I'd basically like to have it ignore Safari completely as web video in there regularly takes priority over iTunes for me. It looks like this is not possible in the latest public release, unless I overlooked something?
