Setapp says nothing has been given to them for an update to publish since the 4.910 update on November 29. So Setapp can't do anything about it if they are not provided an update to publish. How do we get 4.910 to Setapp?
there hasn’t been an official release since then (only the blackfriday release which was not relevant for setapp). The current versions are still in testing phase, however it’s almost done. There will be a new stable & pushed release before christmas.
Thanks for the response. But how is a release not a release when anyone that downloads the current version gets 4.910 as the current release.
there is a huge difference of whether I push a version to hundreds of thousands of users or whether a few hundred download a new version from my website.
the standard flow for every bigger release of BTT goes like this:
- alpha release for users who explicitly enabled the alpha channel
- beta releases for users who explicitly check for updates manually via the BTT app
- release testing releases are additionally put on the standard download link on my website
- stable releases are pushed to all users that have auto update enabled and to setapp users.
Unfortunately I can not mirror this flow on setapp, I think they now support alpha releases there as well but I haven't looked into that yet.
Ok thanks again for responding and explaining. Please know it comes from a place of wanting the features in the latest release and just frustrated not being able to use them for some number of weeks or months. The. getting videos emailed showing off the features only to find that I can’t use them because I’m a setapp user. Again very much appreciate the explanation - I may not be happy with it but it’s appreciated

The current beta is now available on setapp - I think you need to enable beta updates somewhere in the Setapp settings and restart Setapp.
