Are there any tutorials on named triggers (beginning to advanced level) - specifically what they are, what they can be used for, and how to set them up? I've been on BTT for a few years and am getting into some more of the advanced features now. In particular, I'm hoping to find some way of being able to use 1 gesture that can be set up to do a different set of actions for different websites. I'm using floating menus to log onto the websites but having separate items in the menu for logging on, getting the statements, and logging off makes the menu quite large. Perhaps named triggers is not the way to go so any other suggestions would be welcome.
Named triggers is not what you need. Here is a short documentation:
http://docs.folivora.ai/docs/1002_named_triggers.html
What you want is "advanced trigger conditions" (or conditional activation groups, both work for this usecase):
See the part " Configuring Advanced Trigger Conditions (ATCs):"
http://docs.folivora.ai/docs/1400_conditions.html
Thank you for the suggestions. I set up a conditional activation group for 2 websites (called it "LOG OFF") with a simple custom tap gesture (1234) to activate a logging off sequence which is slightly different for each site. Opened up the sites, tried the gesture and nothing happened on either site. Obviously there is something I'm missing. Any thoughts? See the screenshot below. I'm on version 4.812. Thank you! I greatly appreciate your time and help.
Yes, I'm still trying to figure this out from a couple of days ago. I've tried a few different ways and when I go to either website, nothing happens. Here are a few screenshots. What am I missing?
Ah Firefox.
Sorry, unfortunately after all these years Firefox still doesn't have any scripting support, thus BTT can't get the url from it.
You would need a plugin like this to instead move the url to the window title, then you could use the window name in your conditions:
I've spent the last 2 weeks trying to figure this out with no success. I tried the Firefox extension that was suggested - no luck. I tried Safari - no luck. I have a workaround by using conditions (3 fingers touching the trackpad for downloading statements and 4 fingers to log off) and that worked as long as I followed that order. So, I tried IF/ELSE conditions and only the actions after the "Else" worked. I did this on both Firefox and Safari with the same results. I also tried setting up a condition to activate a set of actions based on a hovered element, or color under cursor, or even text. Couldn't get those to work. I would select "hovered element" and type in the information in the correct box (hovered element is:) or even press shift/space bar but no luck. This leads me to believe there is something I'm doing wrong. The tutorials I've seen (and I've looked extensively) are either only showing what something does with no real step-by-step guide or runs through the process so briefly as to not be much help in figuring out how to set it all up. Please don't misunderstand - I'm absolutely loving BTT and can't imagine life without it. It's simply one of the most incredible apps out there and I can't imagine the amount of work that has gone into this. Specifically, I'm hoping to find out what I'm not getting right and I've included a few screenshots:
-
Apparently Firefox doesn't have any scripting support. Does Safari? If so why isn't this working? The 2 shown in this screenshot below have slightly different actions with the same trigger and I set up each one as shown on the 2nd screenshot here.
-
Here I tried setting up IF/ELSE conditions which didn't work. Note that there are more actions under the IF part than I included here.
-
I tried cursor hovering elements and when I pressed the shift+space bars here's what I got (the area at the bottom turned red) and I couldn't get any further than that.
The one other thing I haven't been able to find is a step-by-step guide for setting up floating menu submenus. My thought is to be able to hover over a floating menu tab or icon and have the submenu come up with a few different options (like downloading a document or logging off).
I'm sorry to have taken up so much space here and to be taking up so much time on this but I can't help but think there's something I not doing right. I not the smartest person on the planet but I'm very good at figuring things out. This has me baffled! I appreciate any help anyone can offer. THANK YOU!
