Move Space (without anim) with file

Describe the bug
I really appreciate being able to swipe from one virtual desktop space to another without the animation. It's very nice. However, there is one small detail that prevents me from using it. I sometimes need to move a file from one space to another. So when I'm moving the file, holding it with my thumb and swiping with three fingers (four fingers on the trackpad in total), the behaviour isn't very good: slow, unpredictable... I'd like to point out that this is a completely normal action on macOS.

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MPB M3 PRO
  • macOS version: 15.7.3
  • BetterTouchTool version: 6.186

Additional information (e.g. crash logs, related issues, etc.):

Currently when the left button is pressed BetterTouchTool uses the standard "with animation" option because only using that macOS allows to move windows between spaces (while dragging a window). I think I can improve it to detect whether a file is being dragged and then use the without animation version - for files this seems to work.

That would be great :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:. From my perspective, what I'm seeing is that this isn't really the basic behaviour at the moment. It's more chaotic, less predictable, slower.

Weird for me it seems to work fine, it basically just presses the keyboard shortcut to switch spaces in this case.

Ah maybe one pitfall: this will not work well while the BetterTouchTool preferences window is open.

Anyways I'll add file drag detection!

6.187 allows to move files without animation

I just tried it. So yes, there is no longer any animation when it works, but it's still very chaotic and the swipe doesn't work every time (still in the scenario where I have a file under my thumb/fourth finger).

Could you describe what chaotic means exactly?

Do you maybe still have the system gestures enabled?

yes of course is off.

the problem here is with the gestures, the BTT gestures are currently not made for having a separate finger on the trackpad that doesn't participate in the swipe.

I will think about this, I can probably improve the behavior. However for now your only option would be to include the "dragging finger" in your swipe
