Mouse Gesture & Tahoe

So since upgrading to Tahoe (some) mouse gestures are not working anymore.

e.g: my gesture for closing a tab works (sends the key cmd & W) whereas the “back” gesture and “forward” are not working anymore. I set them up to send cmd&Ö and cmd&Ä since this is what Safari says is the correct shortcut - but I wonder whether this problem has anything to do with my german language setting…or is it coincidence that the Ä and Ö gestures are not working?

I tried re-creating the gestures, I checked the Auto adapt to current keyboard layout option and I check the permissions in macos!

Any help please!?

Can you try to assign the predefined action "3F Swipe Right (Page Forward)" and "3F Swipe Left (Page Backward)". These simulate the native page navigation events and might work better.

no, this 3F action didn’t work as well.

but i think i found the issue: i seems like the horizontal gestures are not being recognized! when i set my “new tab” gesture (vertical gesture) to cmd & Ö instead everything worked fine.

so I guess there are issues for BTT with Tahoe and horizontal gestures?! is this a known issue?

no, in general horizontal drawings work fine in Tahoe.

However there are some undocumented optimizations you can activate by naming the drawing.
If you name your drawing "left" (or any of these: "l", "left", "Left", "go left", "←", "line left", "west") it will be optimized for a horizontal line to the left.

Same goes for right:
"r", "right", "Right", "arrow right", "go right", "line right", "east"

Up:
"u", "up", "Go Up", "Up", "up line", "north"

Down:
"d", "down", "go down", "Down", "down line", "south"

Down-Left:
"dl", "left down", "Down-Left", "down left", "down-left", "Arrow Down-Left", "south-west line", "south-west"

Up-Left:
"ul", "left up", "Up-Left", "up left", "up-left", "", "north-west line", "north-west"

Down-Right:
"dr", "right down", "Down-Right", "down right", "down-right", "south-east line", "south-east"

Up-Right:
"ur", "right up", "Up-Right", "up right", "up-right", "Arrow Up-Right", "north-east line", "north-east"

Can also confirm that my mouse gestures stopped working since Tahoe.

I tried renaming the drawings too.

Not a big deal, I’ll just stop using them for now.

Same here

I just tried again, but it is working fine on all of my Tahoe test machines.
@83652886 @Acme_Zero in both of your screenshots the "minimize window under cursor" action is being shown - is it possible just that one is not working? Maybe try to assign an action like "Mission Control" to see whether it is really the drawing that is not triggering for you.

I think I found a Tahoe bug that might be related:
Some window operations now take significantly longer than before - I think in the case of mouse gestures this especially affects actions that target the window under the cursor because the system still thinks the drawing overlay is "the window under the cursor" even though it has already been closed.

I think I found a workaround in 5.686 (available now as alpha), this should resolve the issue.

Hi Andreas,

I updated to this version but still doesnt work:

I can confirm that updating the shortcut to a custom keyboard shortcut to minimize/close/etc. the window does work, so will use that workaround instead.

Edit: nevermind, it worked before but now it doesnt for some reason. Oh well

Thank you for being responsive as always!

If anyone has this issue - while we wait for a resolution… Insert a delay before the action and it’ll work.

tried all suggestions in this thread - still not working for me
