Unfortunately I have not encountered similar so far, if you can find any pattern as to when this happens please let me know! From your screenshot I can't see anything that would affect right-clicks
it happens daily. on 2 machines w/o shared credentials. been happening for months. can i help you debug somehow? is there a log/console i can help with? it's driving me insane
Had the same issue today, observed it after MacBook wake from sleep. On desktop, it felt like Control was pressed (context menus shown instead of left-click), while in Finder it felt like Option was pressed (when I clicked "Applications" folder in the sidebar, it opened in the new window, which happens when user holds Option key). The problems gone after quitting BTT.
Below is the list of all configured actions if that helps.
still happens to me as well. about once a week now. only fix is to restart BTT from menu bar item. this forces me to keep it as a menu bar item when id prefer to hide it.
the most likely reason for this is having a action sequence that sends a keyboard shortcut that includes ctrl but is set to only send the key down events - in which case the ctrl key will stay pressed. Best check the recently used section if it happens
it only depends on what is executed when triggering- it can be caused by any trigger if it has a âsend shortcutâ action assigned that only sends the key down events
Hi. I hunted down this form because I was also running into this debilitating issue with no explanation. I reproduced the exact situation that causes this "stuck in right hold down state"). even quitting BTT doesn't consistently solve this for me.
This is the trigger/action that is causing it:
Middle Click + Scroll Down
Action: Zoom In: 1
That's it. I disabled every other trigger and narrowed it to that. Also sometimes I can get back to functional state by doing the middle click while scrolling action again. Things get more complicated because I normally have both middle click + scroll down AND middle click + scroll up set to zoom in/out, and it's been more difficult to get out of the weird held state. Anyways maybe this helps to reproduce.
I have the same error. Can`t figure out what is causing the problem. Even disabling BTT for all apps does not solve the problem. Only quitting BTT helps.
I am on Sequoia 15.7.5 and BTT 6.503 ... But had the error since a couple month and versions.
All my Send Keyboard Shortcut actions are configured with âSend Key Down and Key Upâ, none of them use âkey down onlyâ, yet the stuck modifier/rightâclick state still appears from time to time.
Since today I didn't use the trigger that is selected on screenshot â and the problem happened again â I believe the possible cause is Hyper Key and the triggers where it's used
Another interesting observation: after I set my "Caps Lock - Hyper Key" shortcut to "Trigger on Key Up" (for testing purposes), occasionally keyboard shortcuts using the Hyper Key would stop working entirely.
I changed "Trigger on Key Up" to "Trigger on Key Down" temporarily and then back â after that it came back to normal (for now). Strange things happen with the Hyper Key.
Can you explain what you mean by Caps Lock - Hyper Key shortcut to trigger on key up? Caps lock should only have "Actions Executed On Trigger" and "Actions Executed on (Unused) Hyperkey Release". "Act as Hyper Key" must always be assigned to the on trigger category
What I meant by âCaps Lock - Hyper Key shortcut to trigger on key up" is not that I moved the âAct as Hyper Keyâ action to another section. The only thing I was changing for testing was the "Advanced Press Behavior" â I was referring specifically to that setting, not to moving the actions between categories. Here's what I have now:
With these settings, several minutes ago, I was not able to use shortcuts that are highlighted in yellow (pressing Caps Lock + the assigned keys did not do anything). Restarting BTT did not help. But after I changed (visible on the screenshot) "Trigger on Key Up" to "Trigger on Key Down" temporarily and then back, I could use shortcuts that are highlighted in yellow again
