Mouse click registers only when I press a tad longer/harder then before

I have an iMac with a Magic Mouse (probably MM1: It is the version using AA batteries).

The mouse worked reasonably well for years. Now suddenly, after moving the computer from one room into another, the mouse click registers only when I press a tad longer/harder then before.

This is very annoying!

I installed BTT (without any gestures) and I thought it bettered the situation slightly, but I guess that was only hopeful dreaming...

Also, I tried adding a Tap -> Click Trigger+Action but this doesn't improve it for clicks and tapping without clicking is pretty strange for me...

So the problem persists - can BTT or anything else help? Is there a setting to adjust "click sensitivity" maybe?

To be honest hat sounds like a broken mouse. I'm not sure how BTT could help here, it sounds like the mechanical click function is broken - there is only 1 or 0 for the click, nothing inbetween.

As it turns out it probably is indeed the actual mouse, because with another mouse I do not have this awkward delay.
