BTT is the best Mac app I know , it's fantastic. The fact that it's made by Andrea alone, and has such active support warms my heart
I preface saying this because I realize my suggestion might require too much work and not be a priority
As effective as the tool is, BTT looks very ugly. I don't really care about the main UI tbh; it's more about the actions pop ups, shortcuts, toasts etc . They look ugly and dated, even more so with the new liquid glass design . It looks so different
I was wondering if you planned on modernize it , or if you prefer to retain a very practical and effective approach ?
Liquid glass will applied where appropriate once BTT is enhanced for Tahoe (shortly before the release). I'm not yet sure whether I'll apply the ugly side bar Apple has created in Tahoe though, but probably I need to
For other things, BTT evolves continuously. If you have something specific, best post a feature request, often these things can be changed quickly.
I’ve been testing Tahoe since they released it, and honestly, the design feels pretty rough. I wanted to ask given your 15+ years building one of the best Mac apps out there. what do you think of Apple’s direction lately? Personally, I feel like their design and feature decisions in the past few years haven’t been great. Curious to hear your take.
I also tried Tahoe right away and was struck by how rough the design felt. It’s as if management said “unify the UI across all platforms,” yet overlooked macOS’s rich ecosystem of long-standing, uniquely styled apps. The new “liquid” design ends up pasted onto classic, maybe slightly outdated, interfaces—Finder in particular—where it feels jarringly out of place. By contrast, iOS has had a more unified look from the start, which is why the updated design fits better there.
@Andreas_Hegenberg Exactly...that’s what threw me off too. The only thing that might be decent is the new Spotlight, but Raycast is still waaay more powerful. I’d love to hear your take on it if you ever try it. Would be amazing if BTT had a preset that could fully replace Raycast someday
I'm working on integrating BTT as good as possible into the new Spotlight. I had always dreamt of an extensible Spotlight, but there are still a few unfortunate limitations in the Tahoe implementation - better than nothing though.
i'm hijacking this thread since we're talking already, but do tell me if i should open a specific thread for it
I would like to create a gesture for control center, and I'm looking for a way to get input=swipe from the top right of the trackpad (if possible with a percentage control, roughly the 30% top-right area)
